Lister CS Ratio Valve compression ratio changeover Valve Part No DEV 8/1C5BC engine with single Cylinder 5-1, 6-1 & 8-1.
A brand new and excellent quality Rare & almost obsolete item for Lister CS Engine with single Cylinder 5-1, 6-1 & 8-1. This is a brand new compression change over valve with cast iron grip and all the copper seals needed for a complete replacement of your Lister CS or Listeroid COV.
The Handwheel screwed “in ” gives HIGH and “Out” gives LOW compression
Do Not run on heavy load with high compression
For long runs at third (1/3) or lower use high compression
ALWAYS USE VALVE IN EITHER FULL SHUT OF FULL OPEN.
INSTRUCTION TO START THE ENGINE
1. See that valve lifter stud is under the exhaust valve tappet (see Fig. 4).
2. Turn Governor Lever Handle downwards (see Fig. 4)
3. Lift Overload Pawl to allow governor lever to move to maximum position. This Pawl will return to Normal as soon as engme starts.
4. Screw the compression ratio changeover Valve(s) inwards tight on to seat .
5. Place the starting handle on the engine crankshaft (smear a little oil on the Crankshaft first), and turn smartly. When a good speed has been attained on the flywheel, pull valve lifter stud From under exhaust valve tappet when the engine should immediately fire. On multi-cylinder engines the other stud should be pulled out immediately after.
6. As soon as the engine has attained its normal speed, open the compression ratio changeover valve by screwing the hand wheels outwards until it (they) comme(s) to a stop.
7. NOTE. When Changeover Valve is screwed in it beds against seating at A Fig. 3 when sciewed out, against seating at B. These seatings should be kept free from carbon. This can be done by turning valve hand wheel backwards and forwards once or twice
before leaving in final position, tight up
